As I am not able to post original, creative stories every day, I hope to post one large story per week, as well as daily mini-posts during the rest of the week. For now that will entail player bios or exceptional plays, although I am open to suggestion. For now, there's this:
By now, any loyal sports fan has seen this play. However, how many people know much more about senior quarterback Tyrod Taylor than his elusive running skills and surprisingly exceptional arm. Well until last night, I was one of those in-the-dark people, until Wikipedia (my go to website for any information, despite controversy over the validity of the facts) was able to lend a helping hand. I now know, as is to be expected, that Taylor was, like many 'dual-threat' college quarterbacks, a successful runner, as well as a safety in high school. And a tidbit most people will be interested to hear is this exceptional man was also on the honor roll during his entire high school career.
The story of his freshman year can be considered pretty typical of a college star, sharing time in his first year with an occasional chance to shine, such as his 204 passing yards to lead VT to its first win over Florida St. in two decades.
However his sophomore year is a bit puzzling, as he began by being asked to redshirt after a productive freshman year, only to be reactivated after a loss to East Carolina. The rest is, without meaning to use clichés, history. He lead his Hokies to three straight bowl games including two wins and a disappointing loss last night (other than that excellent play above). He is currently ranked in the top 10 quarterbacks by many scouting agencies, and hopefully will have a succesful NFL career.
